What are black soldier fly larvae?
Black soldier fly larvae are Hermetia illucens, the insect Tenong farms in Kuching, Sarawak. Adult flies have no working mouthparts, so they never bite and never feed. From those larvae Tenong packs three single-ingredient products: Dried Larvae, Dried Larvae Powder and Frass Fertiliser Compound. Nothing else goes in the pouch.

What were the larvae fed on?
Hatchlings are spread over screened organic residue in stacked bioponds. Over roughly two weeks they eat their way through it and grow several hundred times heavier.
